School of Dentistry
Ok, I had to check in with this. I just got back from the dentist and I am not exactly happy with my new permanent crown. It looks ok, but it just doesn't feel right and getting it was no picnic either. First of all, I had to save up money to afford said tooth--saving up money to buy a tooth b/c my original one was cracked. That is a sad state. After working full time for 4 years and I still don't have enough disposable income to pay for a tooth. Which, by the way was way expensive. That is uncool.

Anyway, so I got the temporary one a couple of weeks ago and that was ok since I had novocaine, although it was weird to hear your tooth being drilled away. So, I went back today to get the permanent one put in. Considered getting a gold one, but settled on a porcelain tooth instead. So, I was told this would be an easy visit. No novocaine, pretty quick procedure. So, I wasn't too worried. I think that was my first mistake. Once they popped, and yes, I mean popped the temp out and I was sitting there with a big gaping hole, he started to get the other tooth ready. Well, it didn't fit, so he had to file it down and try again. Still didn't fit. This pattern repeated about 3 times. All the while, my mouth has cotton shoved in it and the dental assistant has been using the suction with the cold air almost right on my exposed nerve. To say that it was unpleasant is an understatement. Finally they get that sucker in there and I am finished. So, about 3 hours and 4 aleve later, I still don't think this thing fits properly. So, I called the dentist back and have another appointment on Friday. Just what I want to do...go back and visit the person who screwed this thing up in the first place.

Anyone out there have any dental horror stories?
